We already touched on it briefly, but we want to elaborate on it. The unique and all-new Explorations Central center on deck 10. This center is an interactive space focused entirely on the destinations you visit during your cruise.  Through iPads, interactive screens and travel guides, you will dive into a virtual world that tells you more about the culture, fauna and flora of your ports of call and the countries in which they are located. Perfect also to help you in the choice of any excursion you want to make ashore. On the same deck, then, you'll find the Shore Excursions Desk. Here you can also book a real exploration right after your virtual exploration. 

Port to Table is another concept with which Holland America Line puts your taste buds to work. Every cruise, guest chefs  come on board to explain the culinary traditions of your destinations. Includes food and wine tasting. Through live cooking demonstrations, they show you fun new dishes that you can also make yourself at home. Those same chefs, by the way, accompany you on culinary shore excursions during Explore On Shore. Hunt for the perfect Pad Thai in the Thai countryside, skim local markets in Tahiti in search of French sweets  or discover the tastiest Tasmanian wines. 

Enjoy art and music on the Westerdam

Your time aboard the Westerdam can include spending time at the Rijksmuseum at sea. You heard that right… a Rijksmuseum at sea. Holland America Line cruise ships have been known for some time for their onboard art collections and antiques, but on the Westerdam, they go above and beyond. The new museum contains several reproductions of the most famous works that you can also find in the Rijksmuseum. 

And music, of course, is also art.  Especially if you visit the Music Walk aboard the Westerdam. This boulevard of beats and blues takes you on a fascinating journey through music history. For instance, you can visit Billboard Onboard, where 2 pianists perform the top hits of the past and present. Hours of dancing and singing fun guaranteed.  Or visit the B.B. King's Blues Club for the best R&B, blues, soul and rock & roll at sea. When the B.B. King's All Stars Band bring out their repertoire, it will be hard not to move your feet.
